This year, Hanover County Public Schools
(HCPS) will serve approximately 19,800 students in pre-K-12. One hundred
percent of Hanover's schools are fully accredited according to the
Virginia Standards of Learning assessments. In October 2005, HCPS earned
district accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI).
Hanover schools have been recognized with ten National Blue Ribbon
School of Excellence awards. They are: Beaverdam Elementary (twice),
Cold Harbor Elementary, Cool Spring Elementary, Rural Point Elementary, South Anna Elementary, Chickahominy Middle, Liberty Middle, Stonewall Jackson Middle, and
Lee-Davis High School. Hanover was the first Virginia school district to
receive the U. S. Senate Productivity and Quality Award for Continuing
Excellence. HCPS is the fourteenth largest of the 134 school districts
in Virginia and is among the 300 largest of the 15,500 school districts
in the United States. |
